a quick update

Hey all! Summer is almost here, and Josiah is LOVING the water. He is a little fish- which, may have something to do with his bedroom being a "Finding Nemo" room. He probably feels he has to love the water!!!
We had another Neuro appointment a couple weeks ago to discuss whats next. Since Josiah has reached the max he can tolerate of the Clonazepam, we need to move on to the next medication while we wait for the Ketogenic Diet. He is on the list fot the Ketogenic, but we most likely wont start that for another while as there is a long waiting list. So, he sits now at around 40 seizures a day, although that number has been increasing agian, as we are weaning him off of the Valproic Acid. We started to decrease this med 2 weeks ago, and he will be off it completely early July, then we will introduce Lamotrigine. Maybe we will have some luck with that medication.
Josiah had his last Physiotherapy appointment 2 weeks ago, and now we will take a break for the summer. They have prescribed an AFO brace for him, which he will have made in a couple weeks. This is to hopefully make him more aware of his right leg/foot, and maybe improve his walking. Also, it will limit his ability to walk on his tip-toes, which is another thing he is doing too frequently. We will start with bracing the right leg, and see if making him more aware of it will decrease the amount it drags behind when he walks.
This fall, he will start with occupational therapy again, and when they feel he is ready, he will start with the speech therapist.  Although, after a summer with his chatterbox girl cousins, he may not need speech therapy, lol. After a day with them, he often comes home trying to copy something they did or said, which is AWESOME (most of the time...haha).
We appreciate all the prayers for Josiah, truly! We thank GOD every day for the wonderful gift that Josiah is, and the love that he brings into our home.
Well, I will end today with that....more updates soon.
Here's some cute summer pics!
