GETTING SETTLED FIRST DAY WITH PROBE IN BRAIN

                                                                              DAY 2 WITH PROBE IN
ON THE DRIVE HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL

Alot has happened since our last post. We are currently in the hospital  Josiah has had surgery to implant an I C P monitor into his ventricle. We are starting the first of a few surgeries he is going to have to see how we can get his Atonic (drop) seizures to stop. He is still averaging 90 to 120 drop per day and we haven't been able to control them with any medication. The doctors have told us that they need to check his ventricle pressure to rule out any ventricle pressure that might be causing the seizures. Josiah had is surgery yesterday to make two holes in the top of his forehead to insert a pressure sensor inside his ventricle. We are now watching the monitor screens show his pressure and they have been just a bit over normal (10mmhg is normal). We have seen it as high as 30 mmhg when he is sleeping and as low as 2 mmhg. So the doctors are charting everything for the next 48 hours. Our job is to try to keep our 19 month old son in bed and keep his hand from ripping out any of the 10 wires on his body including the ICP probe that goes inside his brain. We have met with the neusurgon several times and so far they are inconclusive whether or not to do a shunt.
